The objectives for Maths are divided into seven strands: Using and applying mathematics; Counting and understanding number; Knowing and using number facts; Calculating; Understanding shape; Measuring; Handling data; parts of which are covered each term, progressing towards the ‘End of Year Goals’ for each Year group.
The main concepts covered this term will be:
- Using efficient written methods to divide whole numbers and decimals
- Applying knowledge to solve problems involving one or more steps
- Describing and explaining sequences
- Reading and interpreting scales of measurement
- Properties of 2-D and 3-D shapes
- Translating shapes
- Reading, interpreting and constructing graphs
- Finding and justifying probabilities
- Ratio and proportion
- Algebraic equations (P8)
- Plotting and interpreting graphs of linear functions (P8)
Last term in Maths, we carried out some statistical investigations.
Some of our learning targets were, to be able to:
- Collect suitable data to solve problems
- Represent data in different ways and interpret its meaning
- Use data to solve problems - draw conclusions
The results and our conclusions are below.
