In the first half of Term 2, Milepost 3 has been following a unit of learning on a theme which focuses on ‘The Environment and Sustainability’. During this unit we have been focusing on geography, information and communication technology, science and technology.
In geography, we have used enquiry to find ways that our community can deal with waste and save energy, including how materials can be reused and recycled. We also collected and recorded evidence to help us decide what would be the best place to locate a waste incinerator on Yenzi camp.

In science, we have been learning about different sources of energy and ways of using renewable energy sources. We also did some experiments to compare energy from different fuels, and to investigate which materials provided the best insulation, so that we can save energy.

And in technology, we have been developing our understanding of how different techniques, tools and materials are needed for different tasks, by designing wind turbines and recycling containers.
